I want to do it without having a stupid password on my whole computer. Is that an impossibility?

Making the folder private would be a good way to do it. Better way if you're the owner of the computer is to set the permissions on that folder to only you the user. Or use a thumb drive with encryption, what I have :)
http://www.axantum.com/AxCrypt/ Try this if you want to keep the computer public but have a folder on there you want secured.
